AMRI Hospitals Bring First-of-its kind Trauma Care Centre to Bhubaneswar

Recently, AMRI Hospitals launched its advanced trauma care centre (TCC) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Claimed to be the first-of-its-kind TCC in Odisha, this new department is expected to provide timely life-saving medical care to victims of road accidents and other trauma patients.

The Facility in New TCC

Integrated with state-of-art equipment, trained paramedics and multi-speciality doctors, the TCC will offer 24/7 clinical care to patients. Hence, it’s estimated to reduce the mortality rate and disabilities caused due to accidents.

Even a 24/7 advanced, fully equipped life support ambulance service will provide a fast response to victims. Besides ambulance vans, a fleet of bike ambulances will also offer quicker responses to victims. It would enable the start of pre-hospital resuscitation.

Furthermore, the trauma centre wants to spread awareness on readiness and quick response to accidents. These actions are likely to decrease the impact on road accident victims.

Increasing Road Accidents in the Country

Road accidents are a big challenge in the country. Recently, the number of road accidents has increased vastly. In road accidents, the victims suffer a disability, severe injuries or even loss of their precious lives. These incidents even put an economic burden on the victim’s family, as well as the entire society.

Compared to 2016, the country observed just a 3% reduction in road-related fatalities in 2017. But Odisha alone witnessed an increase of around 7.3% in this period. Around 4,790 deaths in road accidents were reported in Odisha in 2017 compared to 4,463 in 2016.

The Objective of the Trauma Care Centre in Odisha

Being the best hospital in Bhubaneswar, AMRI’s main objective in starting the Trauma Care Centre is to provide quick access to the hospital. This way, they aim to give proper attention to trauma victims on time and also offer them multi-speciality, advanced clinical care.

Now, road accident patients and other trauma victims are likely to get medical attention within the shortest time possible. Hence, there are more chances of saving the lives of victims.

According to Dr Chirantan Bose, AVP Medical Administration of AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar, hospitals will make liaisons with local government bodies. It will ensure a quick and smooth transfer of victims to the TCC. Hence, there won’t be any unwanted treatment delays.

He also added that the hospital even has facilities to send quicker bike ambulances to accident spots. So, emergency cases can get immediate medical attention on the spot. Around 10-15% of patients require early intervention. And, this is what the centre’s trauma team aims to offer.

The trauma team consists of emergency Neurosurgeons, Physicians, Orthopaedic surgeons, General surgeons, Cardiovascular Surgeons and Plastic surgeons. All the trauma care team is available round the clock at TCC to attend emergency cases on priority.

Conclusion

Being the top hospital in Bhubaneswar, AMRI Hospitals has treated more than 5.5 lakh patients since its beginning. Now at the AMRI Trauma Centre, the hospital aims to give 24x7 Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service to road accident patients. They have formed a dedicated trauma team of trained and qualified paramedics, along with state-of-the-art equipment. Hence, they are determined to offer quicker medical care to victims.

Even the bike ambulances will offer faster responses to victims and a direct Hot-line number (0674-6666666) is available round the clock. Victims or people near the accident spot can contact this number for immediate medical attention.
